Body Piercing

Body piercing is exactly that — a piercing or puncture made in your body by a needle. After that, a piece of jewelry is inserted into the puncture.

Dermal Implants
Dermal anchors, microdermals, surface anchors or subdermal anchors are types of piercing and implant. This is a new trend in peircing which places or implants a metal anchor firmly under the surface of the skin, within the epidermis (top layer of skin), and is a long overdue advancement in the piercing world.

Dermal anchors are a permanent body decoration, which is embodied firmly in the skin allowing the tissues under the skin to meld with the anchor in order to hold it in place.

Dermal implants, "Piercings" can be put on many different parts of the body, where in the past, this was not possible and where surface barbells were not able to be placed. Thus, surface piercings have become possible, which until recently, were considered unpiercable allowing both single and multiple point piercings.

A crucial advantage of this kind of body decoration, is the short and usually uncomplicated healing process, since there is minimal skin invasion via a smaller wound as opposed to conventional piercing.

With a small needle, the skin is opened, forming a pocket under the skin layer, where the base plate/anchor is inserted under the skin. a short staff then protrudes upwards to the skin surface where a diverse range of jewelry can be screwed on to the thread at the top of the staff.
